JOB DESCRIPTION – Principal

Client Delivery

  • Autonomously lead and execute projects to exceed their initial value propositions
  • Work independently or in a team to diagnose client issues then identify, implement, and transition solutions that deliver lasting improved performance
  • Co-create transformations with clients and move people and organizations to act
  • Serve as a highly effective strategic leader; working with senior management and motivating yourself and others to deliver exceptional results

Client and Account Management

  • Manage project and account teams, including contractors,s and assume top-line accountability for client satisfaction
  • Establish trusted partner relationships across the full vertical span of our client organizations to connect strategy to the operational transformations that achieve business objectives
  • Effectively manage Scimitar cashflow by ensuring time and expenses are submitted on time

Growing the Business

  • Continue to build a network of trust-based relationships that will naturally transition to clients as you grow into business development responsibilities over the course of your career
  • Promote the extension of engagements and expansion of accounts through exceptional delivery, opportunity identification, and escalation with account manager colleagues
  • Support and lead business development efforts from proposals to closing new engagements


Firm Strategy and Infrastructure

  • Actively contribute to, drive, and lead Scimitar strategies and internal initiatives to grow and continuously improve all aspects of the firm
  • Participate in recruiting activities to identify and hire exceptional staff members
  • Act as an owner/operator of the business in all aspects by demonstrating a strong and ever-present drive to promote the success of Scimitar

People Development

  • Independently drive self-development across multiple areas
  • Support and welcome new Scimitar employees through onboarding activities
  • Teach and engage with colleagues through facilitating peer-to-peer sessions on relevant topics of interest

        QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

        A history of prior management consulting experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical arena is required, along with the demonstrated ability to successfully drive business development and leadership activities. MBAs are preferred along with Bachelor’s (and often graduate) degrees in engineering and/or life sciences. We also place a very high value on candidates with prior industry operating roles, e.g., strong records in the biopharmaceutical industry or extremely rich operating experience.

        Required Experience

        • 7+ years of business management or consulting experience in a reputable company (or 9+ years in lieu of Advanced Degree)
        • 5+ years in a life sciences sector including Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals, Cell Therapy, Gene Therapy, Medical Devices or Diagnostics (or 7+ years in lieu of Advanced Degree)
        • Experience across two or more segments of the life sciences value chain: Research, Development (Clinical), Technical Operations (Mfg., Supply Chain, Logistics), or Commercial
        • Proven record of high value contribution to your past clients or employers
        • Experience in three or more of the following disciplines: Program Management, Project Management, Organizational Change Management, Analytics and Data Visualization, Digital Transformation, Organizational Strategy and Capability Building

        Education

        • Bachelors Degree in a science or engineering discipline
        • Advanced Degree or MBA

        Physical Requirements

        • Travel up to 80%. Actual travel will vary by client and project.
        • Ability to work across US and International time zones
